Over Thanksgiving I tried to get on an earlier flight at the airport – the agent at the gate was quite rude and complaining about his horrible day to passengers. He was very short with me and made me feel like I was a bother for trying to get on the earlier flight. Looking at this as a challenge, I decided that I would try to get him to lighten and soften up before I boarded the plane. I periodically went up to him to check in, and try to crack a joke or ask him a personal question. Eventually, he ended up smiling at me when he told me I was able to board the earlier flight. 

How surprised was I when I got to my gate over Christmas, and low and behold, it was the same man working the gate! He recognized me and we waved and smiled at each other. I walked up to him and we chatted for a few minutes, and then he told one of his employees to change my ticket to first class! When I boarded the plane, he even gave me a hug and told me to come visit him whenever I’m flying. I’m still a bit shocked at how grumpy this man at seemed when I original met him, and how he warmed up after I relentlessly continued trying to be his friend J
